AAC - All Aluminium Stranded Conductors
The AAC Conductors are formed by Several Aluminium wires, being stranded in concentric layers. All the wires have the same norminal diameter. In the compacted conductors during the stranding process, the initial circular shape is varied on the wires with which reduction are attained on the outerdiameter of the wire and in ghe gaps between the wires. In this way, in its application for insulated cables, a reduction of the amount of insulation and covering to be used is as attained as well as an improved application of same.The AAC Conductors are produced as the standards as below:

The ACSR Conductors are formed by Several Aluminium wires, being stranded in concentric layers. All the wires have the same norminal diameter. The wire or wires which from the core are made of galvanized steel and the external layer or layers are of aluminium.
Normally ACSR conductors have the galvanized steel core of 1,7, 19 or 37 wires, surrounded by concertric layers of aluminium wires The diameters of steel and aluminium wires can be be alike or different.
By Varying the relative proportions of aluminium and steel ratios, the ideal conductor can be produced for any particular application. In this way, if a high tensile strength conductor is required, the number of steel wires can be increased until the required strength is reached. When a conductor with high current carrying capacity and a comparatively low strength is required, this attained with a high aluminium content.
